Set/Revamp your Monthly Budget!
With so many layoffs, it is a good idea set/revamp your monthly budget. Make a budget that makes sense for your situation. “Pay yourself first.” Put money into your savings, and retirement accounts monthly (401K or Roth or Traditional IRA). Have it set up by the 5th of each month.
Think before you buy: Needs vs Wants
When tempted by a nonessential/unplanned purchase, wait 2-3 days before making a decision. Nine times out of ten you will forget or realize you don’t need it right now.
Review recurring charges on all accounts
Cancel any subscriptions or memberships that you aren’t using, especially if they are automatically renewed. You can also check your subscription tab on your iPhone & Android settings and check your credit cards too. Make sure you check your Online Banking weekly at a minimum.
Examine the cost of eating out vs. Cooking at home
Eating out adds up quickly. With the cost of food rising, it must be amended in your budget. Plan to eat the majority of your meals at home, and look for local restaurant specials on nights when you feel like treating yourself.
